Drew is a systems-oriented research scientist and research strategist, currently co-leading on sustainability and biodiversity at Google DeepMind. He has 25+ years of experience in Ecology, Earth System Modelling, Environmental Data Science, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, RL Environment Design, and AGI.

From a foundation of academic research at Cambridge, York, and Princeton, in 2007 Drew moved into the world of tech research, leading a group at Microsoft Research Cambridge, before moving to Google DeepMind in 2015. 

Beata Bienkowska

SR. Net Zero Policy Expert

Beata Bienkowska is a Net Zero Policy Senior Expert at the UN Environment Programme – Finance Initiative, focusing on the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group, UN Net Zero Policy Taskforce, Investor Agenda, NCQG negotiations, and NGFS regulatory cooperation. Previously, she was Deputy Director at the TPI Centre and Programme Manager at the CISL Accelerator. She also spent over a decade in EU and national diplomacy, specializing in energy and economic policy.

Rebecca Marsden

Rebecca joined Oxa from Apollo ibott 1971, where she specialised in data-driven underwriting with a particular focus on emerging markets including new mobility and the sharing economy. With more than 19 years of international experience across insurance underwriting and financial services, she has also previously held positions at AXA, Willis Towers Watson, Credit Suisse and Goldman SachsDuring Rebecca’s tenure at Apollo ibott 1971, she led the successful creation and underwriting of Oxa’s first zero-occupancy autonomous vehicle journey on a publicly accessible road in 2022. This was the first bespoke autonomous vehicle insurance policy wording in the UK and Europe. 

Ranjeet Bhalerao

Ranjeet Bhalerao is a Co-Founder & CEO of MapMortar. With over 16 years of experience in the built environment at notable firms such as Arup and Buro Happold, Ranjeet drives the overall vision and strategy for MapMortar.

Ranjeet is able to leverage his excellent client and partner relationships with major property developers, inc. Langham Estate, Howard de Walden, British Land, Derwent, Cadogan Estates, Galliard, UCL, Imperial College and other global clients in the APAC and Americas region, in order for MapMortar to be truly developed in collaboration with customers. His training as a MEP and sustainability engineer also ensures he has the deep understanding needed to understand our customers’ problems from both a commercial and technical perspective.

In 2018, Will co-founded Ocean Bottle; a social impact company on a mission to stop 7 billion plastic bottles in weight from entering the ocean by 2025 – equivalent to the weight of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Ocean Bottle is a B Corp certified reusables brand. With the sale of each Ocean Bottle, 11.4kg of plastic (the equivalent of 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles) is collected globally, in coastal areas where plastic pollution is worst.

Tom Byrne

Head of Net Zero

British Airways

Tom joined British Airways in January 2023 as Head of Net Zero & Environment. His team’s remit includes accelerating the businesses’ transition to net zero carbon emissions, wider environmental management and reporting.

Tom is a proud Climate Reality Leader, a member of the edie.com 30 under 30 class of 2019 and a recipient of the Acre 365 award. Further to professional achievements, Tom holds a MSc in Carbon Management.

Shooka Bidarian

Media Fellow //

UNU-INWEH

Shooka Bidarian is the Media and Journalism Fellow (Sustainability and Climate) at UNU-INWEH. An award-winning climate and sustainability expert, she works at the intersection of environmental storytelling, media strategy, and climate justice. At UNU-INWEH, she leads the creation of public-facing content—policy briefs, reports, and multimedia—to highlight global environmental challenges. 

She also builds media partnerships, boosts UNU-INWEH’s digital visibility, and supports outreach by engaging with journalists, donors, and stakeholders. With over 11 years’ experience in journalism, broadcasting, and advisory roles, Shooka has worked as a documentary producer, TV presenter, climate researcher, and sustainability advisor. 

She produced the first-ever Farsi-language climate change documentary at COP26 in Glasgow, featuring Al Gore, John Kerry, and Alok Sharma MP. She has advised companies like IKEA, Sony Pictures, Soly, Canary Wharf, and Sopra Steria on sustainability and net-zero strategies. 

As a Climate Reality Leader and Mentor, she’s led major campaigns and events, including Al Gore’s 2024 Climate Reality Training in Rome and the Love Your Planet summit with UCL and Climate Reality Europe. 

She recently served as Lead Researcher and Writer for Sir David King’s Climate Crisis Advisory Group, contributing to a major report on voluntary carbon markets. Shooka holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex. 

Will McCallum

Greenpeace

Will has been Head of Oceans at Greenpeace UK since 2015. Most recently, he led a high profile international campaign for ocean sanctuaries in international and national waters. Before that, he oversaw the launch of the first major Greenpeace UK campaign on plastic.

As an activist inside and outside of Greenpeace, he has campaigned on a range of issues including fracking, coal, oil sponsorship of the arts and equality.

Siddartha Khastgir

Head of safe autonomy //

Professor Siddartha Khastgir is the Head of Safe Autonomy at WMG, University of Warwick. With a research portfolio spanning over £17 million, he leads several collaborative R&D projects with over 100 industrial and academic partners nationally and internationally. His research focuses on AI Safety and proving safety of autonomous transport across land, aviation and marine domains. He has been appointed as a member of the UK Govt’s Department for Transport’s Science Advisory Council.

Siddartha is also the Director of Partners for Automated Vehicle Education United Kingdom (PAVE UK). PAVE UK is the country’s first initiative to deliver inclusive and accurate public awareness and education programmes to enable the public’s trust and acceptance of Automated Vehicles.

Siddartha represents the UK on various international standardisation and regulatory committees, including ISO, SAE and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on safety of self-driving vehicles. He has served as the lead author for three ISO standards.

He has received numerous national and international awards for his research contributions, including the prestigious UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and a Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list maker.

Prior to joining WMG, Siddartha was with FEV GmbH in Germany, leading automotive software development series production projects. He has a PhD from WMG, University of Warwick, UK, and a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering.

A communications professional who has spent 18 years helping brands of all sizes and shapes tell their story, today Ian leads communications for one of the UK’s original purpose led companies — Good Energy. His role at the B Corp certified clean power pioneer includes building the brand and ensuring it stays true to its purpose, connecting with customers, media, employees and policymakers to help drive Good Energy’s vision for a renewable future forward.

Among the activity he has led at Good Energy is its work calling out greenwashing in energy supply, the launch of its groundbreaking Good Future Board and building the profiles of both Founder and former CEO Juliet Davenport and current CEO Nigel Pocklington.
